Color Project

For this week, I chose the artist Maurice de Vlaminck as my inspiration for a color picture. Even though his work sometimes looks very simple and childlike, I love it for the amount of color he puts in his work. A lot of his work consists of primary and secondary colors, and they're not blended finely. He does mainly scenery of nature. I tried to do a picture on the computer similar to his style, but not copy it.

Collage Project

This week I created a collage with a lot of magazine cut outs from fashion books. I tried to make a display of the city buildings looking like they were decaying and falling apart. The background I put many buildings, whereas in the foreground I put more people. I thought it would be interesting to display the fact that when a city constantly changes and receives new people and trends, the original buildings still stay, but slowly wither away.

Value

The song I chose to do my CD cover for was the song "Moonlight" by Kamelot. I thought it would be cool to do the theme where someone turns into a werewolf during full moon, at least. that's what the song made me think of. I love this group. The music is categorized as heavy metal, and the instruments are heavy metal-ish. However, unlike most metal groups, this group actually sings. The lyrics are beautiful, and the music is wonderful in how each song represents an epic journey. For this piece, I decided to draw a woman screaming as she transforms into a werewolf, as her ears, jaw, and limbs grow bigger. Far off to the right, I decided to draw a man who has already transformed into a werewolf, as he looks on to the woman. Obviously the first one is just a sketch.
